if my iphone 6 carrier from verizon to sprint, can i use a sprint sim card in the same phone or only verizon?

I have an iphone 6 that the carrier was verizon, i took the sim card out and it says no carrier, insert sim card. So i was wondering if i switched carriers, could i just put that carrier’s sim card...
